Denim Day-Wear Denim on April 24th

April 24, 2019

Denim Day is a campaign to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it. The campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.  On April 24th we wear denim to show our support!

Throughout the month of April the Student Personal Counseling Center staff and Student Affairs will be selling awareness pins for $5 each to benefit Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR). To purchase a SAAM Denim Day pin, or to sell pins, please contact julianna.mcdonald@jefferson.edu or danielle.litwin-moskowitz@jefferson.edu
