Art Night@SPCC Alter Ego: Reclaiming the Shadow Self

April 10, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

Join us for Art Night@SPCC Alter Ego: Reclaiming the Shadow Self

This art-based workshop will explore the concept of the “shadow self” through the medium of alter egos. We will spend some time discussing famous alter egos in the entertainment industry and the art world, posing the question, “Why create these unusual personas?” In particular, the conversation will focus on how alter egos often flaunt qualities and behaviors that are not socially acceptable. Participants will be guided through a process of identifying parts of themselves that would be liberating to express – aspects which we hide, fear and reject. We will go on to create paper dolls of our unique alter egos that embrace these characteristics.

Facilitated by Sondra Rosenberg, ATR-BC, Creative Arts Therapies Supervisor at The Renfrew Center

Open to all Thomas Jefferson University Students & House Staff. This workshop is limited to 15 participants.

Please note that your registration is not complete until you submit the $10.00 fee. Art therapist, Sondra Rosenberg, will contact all registrants directly to arrange payment by credit card, cash, or check. Please register by Wednesday, April 5th For more information about this workshop, please contact Dr. Shawn Blue at shawn.blue@jefferson.edu.
